IPC, Long Beach, CA - April 28, 1998 - BSL" announces the introduction of the new Eclipse" flying probe fixtureless tester. The Eclipse" is designed for high accuracy and speed over a large working area and is ideal for ultra-fine pitch testing and satisfying quick-turn requirements.

The Eclipse" is an ergonomically designed, double sided, flying probe tester, optimized to test ultra-fine circuit geometry down to 2 mil pads and 2 mil pitch, with an accuracy of ±5 microns. The Eclipse" offers several important key benefits intelligent, variable Z-axis motors accelerate probe action, to provide true 3-dimensional probing; a new head mounted camera provides real time view of probe to pad contact; the new Windows 95 software platform makes setup simple and provides easy user interface; and an ergonomic design places all keyboard and monitor test functions at a comfortable and natural position . An optical pattern recognition option is available for automatic alignment to complement the standard vision system provided with the Eclipse".
